Letter to the Editor
Don't miss CR member
Mike Tosh's
Letter to the Editor printed in last week's
UIS Journal. It's on social security...
College students in this country need to wake up. The government is robbing us blind and we are oblivious to it. There is no greater example of this than Social Security. We need to understand this fact right now: Social Security is a scam and it's not going to cut it. Our parents are trapped in this failed system, but we don't have to be.
The President of the United States, George Bush, recently suggested letting college-aged Americans opt out of a small portion of their Social Security and place it in the stock market. Liberals in this country nearly had heart attacks. This would help some and is not a bad idea. The solution, however, is to allow people to pull out of the system completely. (At this point if any Liberal college professors are near by reading this they have either passed out or they have begun screaming fits about Nazi, Fascist Conservatives. Remain calm. Wrap a warm towel around them and give them a book on Karl Marx, they will be fine in a few hours.)
