Welcome Back!
Our first meeting is tomorrow (
Tuesday, February 8th) at 10:00 PM in the Lincoln Residence Hall Great Room.
Free pizza and soda will be provided for all who come.
Last semester was an unprecedented one for our club - we accomplished more than we have in awhile, and changed the way that our student organization was viewed by our campus, and by those throughout the state of Illinois. (In a recent e-mail to Student Life, I mentioned that we have gotten press coverage, which has appeared in print or online format, in publications read by literally
millions of people throughout our country - This has benefited not only our student organization, but our university as well, which has been striving to get recognition and exposure, as it grows as an educational institution.)
Even though we do not have any statewide or national election races this semester, we still plan to be one of the most active and productive student groups on our campus. There are a variety of activities that we will have the opportunity to participate in this semester, and many ways in which we can promote our issues and policies in our university and elsewhere. We already have several goals for the next several months - at least two people with connections to our club are
running for a local office, and one of our members is about to be
deployed to Iraq. We will be working this semester, among other things, to provide support to good candidates for local office, and provide support to our heroic servicemen as well. We are also considering hosting
another major speaker on campus... This could be another exciting semester.
Please try to come to the meeting tomorrow night - and feel free to bring a friend.
Also, please let me know, as soon as possible, if you are interested in attending this year's
CPAC - one of our members is already going, and we may be able to make special arrangements for students from Springfield who wish to go.
Thanks, and I'm looking forward to another great semester for the party of Ronald Reagan in the capital city's university.
