Christmas Party and Ballot Access Petition Drives
Last year, in the period before the end of
the Fall Semester, we were conducting a ballot-access petition drive, at the behest of the Illinois Republican Party, for our candidates who had just entered the races for Attorney General, Comptroller, and Treasurer of our state.
This year, we were asked by the campaign of Frank Lesko (see November Election Night entry, below), to assist with ballot access, on the morning of our Annual Christmas Party. Despite it being the weekend right before Finals Week, several UIS CRs helped out with this, in both morning and afternoon shifts.
That same day, another candidate, Debbie Cimarossa, asked for our help with ballot access, telling us that she had decided to enter the Ward 7 City Council Race. (see below)
We had another successful Christmas Party this evening, at Bellacino's Restaurant.

The following weekend, the semester had concluded, and most students had gone home, for Christmas Break. However, we were still able to provide volunteers, to help Debbie Cimarossa collect ballot access petition signature, in Ward 7. Ms. Cimarossa is a distinguished alumna of our university, and has served as an adjunct professor here at UIS as well.
